The iPhone ringtone has become synonymous with the Apple iPhone. A ringtone is the melody made by a cellular phone when an incoming text or phone call is recieved to that mobile text. So, who made the first ringtone? It was made by a japanese company in 1996. Of course, if you have been around for a while, as in lived a longer life than most teenagers, you remember the days when the early cellphones and mobile devices simply had a ring. But with the advance of technology iPhone ringtones have become multi dimensional.
When AT&T announced that it would be the exclusive carrier of the Apple iPhone, it gained an undisputed edge amongst Cell Phone carriers. ATT and the iPhone have so far been a marriage made in heaven, with AT&T being the undisputed king of Cell Coverage. The iPhone cannot be called a phone, but more a mobile device. iPhone ringtones are also in a class all to themselves, as they allows the user so many different venues of communication and interaction. After the release of the iPhone, other mobile companies started releasing their own version of the iPhone to compete with Apple. The most notable competitors are the Google G1 phone, and the Blackberry Storm.
Some of the upcoming phones designed to be released to compete with Apple's popular iPhone are The Motorola Hint, the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, the Sony Ericsson X1, and now the impressive Google G1 phone, being offered exclusively by T-Mobile at the moment. Google's dive into the Mobile Phone business is a sure sign that the competition is heating up for Apple.
Of course you do not have to have a iPhone ringtone on your phone to know if someone is communicating with you. An alternitive is to simply put your phone or mobile device on vibrate, also called a vibrating alert. But really, with so many great ringtone choices, vibrate is not an option.
So what will the future hold? What will the ringtones of the future sound like? Or better yet, what will they look like? There is no doubt the industry has changed so fast and so furious. From the days of the simple phone ringing ring, to the amazing now of the complex sounds and songs, the future is bright. And with the release of the new iPhone 3G, it is faster as well. iRinger is not affiliated with Apple, but we do like them.
